Shortly before the Hanukkah Festival of Lights, Israel overturns the planned night curfew. As long as the number of new infections every day is below 2500, no new restrictions will be imposed, the government said. Most recently, the number of new infections was just over 800, according to the Ministry of Health. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced earlier this week a night curfew from the first day of the Hanukkah festival of lights on Thursday. The measure was criticized by parts of the population and health experts as ineffective in the fight against the pandemic. Shortly before the beginning of the Jewish holidays, the government withdrew the project.
