After much back and forth, Iran has now introduced fines for violations of the Corona rules. The fines will initially only apply to the capital Tehran, but could also be extended to the whole country, says President Hassan Ruhani. In addition, the Iranians are no longer allowed to remove the protective masks outside of their homes. As of today, the use of public transport and taxis without a mask is strictly prohibited. If the mask requirement and minimum distance are not observed, the residents of the capital have to pay between 500,000 and 2 million rials each time, shops even between 3 and 10 million rials, according to the president. Converted that would only be between 1.70 and 6 or 9 and 30 euros, but by Iranian standards the amounts are relatively high in the current acute economic crisis.
