In the Czech Republic, another national emergency came into force at midnight. The government under Prime Minister Andrej Babis had decided to declare a state of emergency because of a “rocket-like increase” in the corona numbers. Among other things, it enables the government to restrict civil rights such as freedom of assembly and to take measures without the consent of parliament. The state of emergency was in place from mid-March to mid-May. Unlike in spring, the borders should remain open this time.
