Covid-19 deaths in Israel top 2000 mark

The number of people who have died in connection with corona infection in Israel has exceeded the 2000 mark. As the country’s health ministry announced evening, deaths have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic in 2016. Israel has around nine million inhabitants, around nine times as many people live in Germany. According to the latest information from the Robert Koch Institute, 9,621 people have died here in connection with a corona infection. The pandemic in Israel initially went smoothly, also because of the government’s strict course. After easing and a massive increase in the number of cases over the summer, a lockdown with strict rules has been in effect since September 18. It recently became apparent that the number of new infections is decreasing. According to official information, at least 293,533 people in Israel have been proven to have been infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus since the beginning of the Corona crisis, in Germany there are more than 325,000.
