Upon the death of Supreme Court Jus­tice Ruth Bad­er Gins­burg at the age of 87 on Fri­day, the par­ti­san bick­er­ing over what should hap­pen next imme­di­ate­ly crescen­doed — with Pres­i­dent Trump and most Repub­li­cans agree­ing a nom­i­nee should be named before the elec­tion, and Democ­rats express­ing out­rage at the idea while demand­ing the void be filled after a new pres­i­dent (or the incum­bent) and Sen­ate is sworn in next January.
