Several residents of two nursing homes in Berlin complain of symptoms of the lung disease Covid-19. In one of the facilities, 21 people tested positive for the coronavirus. In Switzerland, several people die in old people’s homes after corona outbreaks. In a nursing home in Berlin-Schöneberg, 15 residents and six employees were infected with the corona virus. The operator of the facility initiated appropriate protective measures in consultation with the health department — such as the quarantine of those who tested positive. According to the fire department, several sick seniors are said to have complained of respiratory problems in the morning. Some of them had been taken to hospital, a spokesman for the Senate Department for Health said on Friday. Because some employees are said to be in quarantine at home, a transfer of the home residents is currently being examined to ensure their care. The nursing home concerned did not want to comment on request. Several people were also examined in a nursing home in the Gesundbrunnen district for suspected Covid-19 and taken to hospital because of severe symptoms.
