Denver weather: Record highs possible Sunday before record low, snow on Tuesday

Record highs could plague the Denver area again on Sunday as temperatures hover just under 100 degrees, the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Heavy smoke from the Cameron Peak fire, which forced more evacuations Saturday night, could help keep the urban corridor below 100 degrees. Denver saw a 101-degree high on Saturday that marked the city’s latest 100-degree day on record.

Tonight’s low will drop to around 58 degrees with winds gusting up to 26 mph. The high on Labor Day will be 92 degrees before a cold front moves in. Monday night has a 90% chance of rain, according to the weather service. The overnight temperature is expected to drop drastically from 92 degrees on Monday to a low of 31 degrees.

Rain and snow are expected on Tuesday as the high is predicted to only reach 37 degrees. The weather service warns that some areas could see heavy snow with damage to vegetation.
